Yet another legendary player speaks on the comparisons between Steve Smith and Virat Kohli. However, unlike other, the swashbuckling opening batsman Virender Sehwag has got a straightforward answer. Sehwag stated that the Indian skipper Virat Kohli is the better batsman than Steve Smith.

The former Indian opener said that the Indian skipper’s batting is more pleasing to the eye than Smith’s, reported the Times of India. Apart from that, he also mentioned that Team India will easily win the Test series and will complete a whitewash as West Indies does not have quality players.

Despite being away for more than a year, Steve Smith restarted his Test career as he was banned after the South Africa series in March 2018. With a century in each of the two innings of the first Ashes Test against England, Smith announced his return on the grandest stage in world cricket while also claiming World No. 2 spot in ICC Test rankings.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli already proved that he is the best in the business across the formats. He already sits on the top of the ICC Rankings and always made a massive impact on the game.

Despite Virat’s dominance with the bat across all three formats of the game and incredible work-rate, some critics still rank Australia’s Steve Smith as the better batsman amongst the two. However, the former India opener doesn’t agree with that assessment as he adamantly stated that Kohli is definitely a notch above Smith.

“He is the best,” Sehwag was quoted as saying in an exclusive interview with The Times of India (TOI). “Virat Kohli is a much better player than Steve Smith. If you look at Kohli and Smith (while batting), Kohli looks much more pleasing to the eyes in comparison with Smith. He is the number one batsman in the world,” the retired batsman added.

“At the moment, Virat (Kohli) is the best batsman. The way he is scoring centuries, the way he is scoring runs, he is the best. I am sure he will break most of Sachin Tendulkar’s records.
