India’s tour of South Africa has always been considered as the final frontier. And to win three games on a trot tells you the kind of form the men in blue are in. Captain Virat Kohli, who was the highest run-getter in the Test series, continued his fine form in limited overs cricket.

Virat Kohli scored his 34th ODI ton during the Cape Town game against South Africa.

The 29-year-old scored his 34th ODI ton and remained unbeaten on 160. The right-hand batsman ran hard between the wickets when boundaries dried up in the mid-innings. He along with Shikhar Dhawan gave much-needed stability to the Indian innings.

Both the batsmen hit 12 fours each and were instrumental in getting their team past the 300-run mark. The Proteas line-up failed to chase down 304 and were bowled out for 179. Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal shared eight wickets among them as India scripted yet another fairytale win.

Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan couldn’t hold back his excitement and congratulated Kohli’s men on winning the game. He said that the Indian team has flushed out all the controversies surrounding the pitch, non-performance and selection. He tweeted ” INDIA WINS AGAIN against South Africa .. most convincingly !! CONGRATULATIONS INDIA .. and VIRAAAT !!! you are simply magnificent ..all complaints of non-performance, pitch, selections .. gone for a six ..BUCK UP INDIA .. ! proud of you India ODI TEAM”.

Putting selection talks to rest

There were a lot of talks surrounding the selection criteria, since the very start of the series. Rohit Sharma got the nod ahead of Ajinkya Rahane in the first two Test matches and the selectors had to face the music from the fans and experts. Head coach Ravi Shastri shrugged off all such talks recently. “Right from the beginning, there was no doubt in the mind of the team management that Rohit was the batsman in form while Ajinkya was struggling, not just on the field but in the nets too. Rohit was averaging more than 200 in Tests and had scored around 1200-odd runs in ODIs.” he said.
