Virat Kohli Reaches another Milestone, the Third Batsmen to do so

Indian skipper Virat Kohli played a cracker of an innings to take his team closer to South Africa’s 335 in the first dig. India finished 28 runs short with Kohli doing the bulk of the scoring.

The 29-year-old Kohli came to South Africa on the back of a fine home season. However, he failed to deliver in the first Test as he got out cheaply in both the innings. India suffered a humiliating defeat as the host went 1-0 up in the series.

Kohli jumped in the air as he reached the three-figure mark in the morning session with a little glance on the leg side. Kohli becomes the second Indian cricketer after Sachin Tendulkar to score two or more hundreds in South Africa.

Kohli maintained a good strike-rate as wickets tumbled on from the other end. All-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin also scored some quick runs taking India closer to South Africa’s score. However, Ashwin departed edging one off Vernon Philander in the first slip to Faf du Plessis.

India went past 300 as Kohli reached his 150 with a cracking pull on the onside of Morne Morkel. Morkel banged it short while Kohli shuffles across, rolls his wrists and pulls it in front of square on the on-side, leaving no chance for the square-leg fielder.

India got bowled out for 307 with Kohli getting out on 153 while playing one over the bowlers head only managing to play at the hands of De Villiers who was positioned at long on.
