Virat Kohli to miss out on a number of records because of his absence from the Sri lanka ODIs

Indian skipper Virat Kohli has been given the much-needed rest after a hectic year of cricketing action. The Indian team will be led by Rohit Sharma in Kohli’s absence when the men in blue take on the Sri Lankans in a 3 match One Day International series. Meanwhile, speculations are ripe about Virat Kohli and his girlfriend Anushka Sharma tying the knot in Milan, Italy as soon as next week. However, the duo have left for Switzerland instead, bringing about a twist in the story.

Virat Kohli has broken a plethora of records in the past 15 months, both in the Test and the limited overs format. From completing 50 international centuries to becoming the fastest player to 9000 ODI runs, Kohli has mastered the limited overs format brilliantly. The recently concluded Test series against Sri Lanka was also a slap from the batsman to his critics who labelled him as a ODI player. His consecutive double tons helped to equal Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag‘s record of most double centuries in Tests by an Indian. Interestingly, Kohli did it in much lesser time than the two legends.

Speaking of records, Virat Kohli will miss on a number of records because of his absence from the ODI games against Sri Lanka. The Delhi born star just needs 51 runs to break the record of most international runs in a calendar year but will have to wait for another year to give a shot at that. He will also miss the milestone of most hundreds in a calendar year. Kohli needs just 1 hundred to equal that feet while 2 to break it.

The aggressive cricketer’s absence will see him miss out on the record of most international wins as captain in a calendar year and it’s very unfortunate for the Indian skipper. Then again, Virat Kohli is a man who has always kept the team ahead of himself.
