India and Pakistan might not be on amicable terms as far as cricketing ties are concerned but it has not stopped Virat Kohli, arguably the best batsman in the world at the moment,  to become the most searched cricketer on the internet in Pakistan beating the likes of Sarfraz Ahmed and Mohammad Amir.

According to Google Trends, the India skipper was searched more than the present Pakistani cricketers. The 29-year old dashing batsman beat Pakistan skipper Sarfraz Ahmed, pace spearhead Mohammad Amir and opening batsman Ahmed Shehzad to become the most searched player in the country across the border. As per the results, the Pakistanis searched about Virat Kohli more than their captain and several other key players in Pakistan team from December 18, 2016, to December 9, 2017.

Well, the result should not come as a surprise to many. The right-handed batsman, currently the best ODI and T20I batsman and number two in Tests, has been ruling the cricket world like no other. He has garnered a huge fan following across social media not only for his on-field exploits but also his off-field conducts.

At a time when tension is escalating between India and Pakistan due to political reasons, Kohli has shown the way with his camaraderie with Pakistani players. The India star had recently praised Mohammad Amir and had also presented him his bat during last year’s World T20 when the left-arm seamer was just returning to international cricket after serving the spot-fixing sentence. Earlier this year, he had gifted a signed bat and jersey to former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi.

Last year, Pakistan women cricketer Sana Mir had also said that Kohli was the most popular cricketer in Pakistan Women’s team

“There are a couple of names. If I just talk about my players, I think Virat Kohli is the favourite cricketer. Personally, Dhoni is my favourite player because he had led India. He has handled himself well on and off the field. He has transformed a team of juniors into an effective unit,” Sana had said.
