The coronavirus pandemic has brought the entire world to a standstill and cricket has not turned out to be an exception either. Cricket around the world is currently suspended due to the pandemic. And just like others, cricketers are also staying indoors.
With nothing much to do nowadays, a number of cricketers have been trying to keep themselves busy by doing live interaction on social media. In the last couple of weeks or so, the likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Yuvraj Singh, Kevin Pietersen and Jasprit Bumrah did live sessions on Instagram.
The latest cricketers to do live session on Instagram are India stars Yuzvendra Chahal and Mohammed Shami. As expected, the session was very interesting as the two bowlers spoke on a range of topics.
During the live session, Mohammed Shami came across an interesting question when he was asked to choose between Indian skipper Virat Kohli and his deputy Rohit Sharma as his better friend. In reply, Mohammed Shami straightaway said that he has a better rapport with Kohli. The fast-bowler also explained the reason behind picking Kohli over Rohit.
“Lekin meri Rohit se utna zyada phone pe baat nahi hote…Pata nahi, Rohit se main mazaak bhi nahi kar pata halaki humari Test debut saath hi hui hai…Virat se mere baat bhi hojati hai. Mazzak bhi chalti rehti hai beech beech mein. Virat ke taraf jaunga. Isiliye nahi ki woh captain hai par bonding zyada achi hai usse. (I don’t interact much with Rohit on phone. Don’t know, but Rohit and I hardly even bond on jokes etc. Though we have debuted in Test together…With Virat, we both talk on all sorts of things (music taste or regarding any joke). We even interact quite often over the phone. Hence, I will go towards Virat in this case. It is not because he is the captain, but we bond in a much better way),” said Mohammed Shami according to Times Now.
If not for coronavirus pandemic, both Mohammed Shami and Chahal would have been playing in the IPL. The thirteenth edition of the league was scheduled to start on March 29 but the BCCI suspended it till April 15 in the wake of the outbreak. But with the Indian government further extending the lockdown, the IPL is set to be suspended indefinitely.
