Virat Kohli, on Sunday (August 18), completed 11 glorious years in international cricket. It was on the same day in 2008 that a young Virat Kohli made his international debut against Sri Lanka in Dambulla. India had gone on to lose the game but had found a gem in Kohli although very few would have realised it at that point of time.

Kohli was dismissed for 18 in his first innings and went without a hundred in his first year in international cricket. However, it was not at all the precursor of the things that were to follow in the coming years. Kohli is now one of the greatest batsmen the game has ever seen. At just 30, he is already regarded as one of the all-time greats.

Talking about his early career, he scored his maiden hundred against Sri Lanka in Kolkata in 2009. He also scored a century in his debut World Cup innings in 2011 and helped India win the coveted trophy at home. Since 2011, Virat Kohli has scored more than 1000 runs in ODI cricket, barring two seasons – 2015 and 2016.

With age on his side, the 30-year is looking set to bow out of the game as the most decorated batsman of all time.

Kohli, meanwhile, came up with a heartwarming post to mark the milestone moment in his celebrated career. In a nostalgic post, the India star shared a picture of his first outing in international cricket and a current one as he tweeted:
