Is it AB de Villiers, is it Glenn Maxwell? No, it’s Virat Kohli! That was the thought in everyone’s mind as they watched with their jaws sinking to the lowest possible point as Virat Kohli pulled on his AB de Villiers moniker to smoke Andrew Tye for an audacious scoop over deep fine-leg for a six.
The moment came in the 15th over of the Indian innings as Virat, after having got off to a slow start- he had scored 9 runs off his first ten balls- finally upped the ante at the expense of Andrew Tye.
Kohli started off with his trademark hook shot over deep midwicket which fetched him a boundary.
But the moment of the innings came on the fourth ball of the same over when the Indian captain went across his off-stump, sat down on one knee before picking the bones out of the delivery to smoke it over fine-leg for a six.
Kohli backed it up by carving a boundary in the vacant third-man region and all of a sudden it looked like the ‘chase-master’ was warming up for yet another heist.
But Daniel Sams proved to be the party pooper as he induced an outside edge off Virat’s bat after the right-hander had danced down the track in an attempt to stroke the southpaw over the cover region.
Kohli was eventually dismissed for a 24-ball 40- an innings which included 2 fours and as many sixes. But it didn’t matter in the end as Hardik Pandya’s stunning assault [42 not-out off 22 balls] guided India to a series win over the Aussies.
