Virat Kohli Struggling With Hand-Eye Coordination? This Is What Virender Sehwag Has To Say

India skipper Virat Kohli has been facing criticism for a rare batting failure on the just-concluded tour of New Zealand. In the swinging condition of New Zealand, the batting star failed to deliver, scoring just 218 runs in the 11 innings (four T20Is, three ODIs and four Tests).
His performance in the two-match Test series was dismal as India suffered a shock whitewash. In four innings, the former world number one Test batsman scored only 38 runs. In the wake of the disastrous tour, a number of questions have been raised on his technique with former India skipper Kapil Dev even saying that Virat Kohli needs to practise more as his reflexes and hand-eye coordination are probably slowing down.
However, former Indian opener Virender Sehwag believes his former teammate is just suffering from lack of form and “doesn’t have hand-eye coordination issues”.
“When you are out of form, nothing works for you. It is not that Virat is not making efforts but luck has deserted him,“ Virender Sehwag was quoted as saying by Sportstar.
“Virat certainly doesn’t have hand-eye coordination issues. Your hand-eye issue deteriorates over a period of time. Not overnight. I am sure it is just lack of form. Also, he has got out to good deliveries,” he added.

Sehwag, who was a part of the Indian team that registered a historic Test series win in New Zealand in 2009, further spoke on how conditions are different in the country. He said that the pressure might have got the better of the India skipper.
“Here (in New Zealand) the ball has seamed a lot and if you are not getting runs then the challenge multiplies. Of course, you can adapt, playing more on the front foot, by leaving the ball,” said Sehwag.
“For me, it is important to know which ball to leave and you can do that when you are feeling confident. The pressure also may have got to Virat,” he added.
