It was an incredible day at the ICC Awards Function for the Indian skipper Virat Kohli. The flamboyant batsman bagged all the major ICC awards to show his stature as a player. He had an amazing 2018, where he scripted stunning records to his name with huge numbers in his kitty. For the same, he was named for major ICC awards to become the first player to collect so.
He became the first player in history to win the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for ICC Cricketer of the Year, the ICC Men’s Test Player of the Year and the ICC ODI Player of the Year awards following an extraordinary 2018.
Virat Kohli had a fantastic 2018:
Earlier, he bagged the ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year 2018, ICC Men’s Test Cricketer of the Year 2018 as well as ICC Men’s ODI Cricketer of the Year 2018, Kohli became the first cricketer ever to win all three honours in the same calendar year.
Kohli was the undisputed choice of the Voting Academy for the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy. South Africa’s fast bowler Kagiso Rabada came close but couldn’t overhaul the Indian skipper. Afghanistan’s leg-spinner Rashid Khan was runner up to Kohli for the ICC ODI Player of the Year award.
Kohli scored 1,322 runs at an average of 55.08 in 13 Tests with five centuries during the calendar year while in 14 ODIs he amassed 1202 runs at an astonishing average of 133.55 with six centuries.
He also scored 211 runs in 10 T20Is. In fact, he missed out few games owing to rest, where he would have cracked a few more centuries by going with his form.
Speaking of the awards, the Indian skipper quoted that it is amazing to bag those trophies and very proud of achieving that. He believes that awards like those will push him to put even more efforts to become the best.
Here are the tweets:

Five years back, it would have been preposterous to suggest someone could be better than Tendulkar. @imVkohli does the unthinkable repeatedly and #ICCAwards2018 is just one of those things. Kohli is now the undisputed gold standard for posterity.
