The India skipper, Virat Kohli left everyone confused after commenting on post-match presentation against the Windies in the first ODI of the five-match series. The 29-year-old said he has few years left with him to enjoy the sport. However, Virat’s childhood coach, Rajkumar Sharma says Kohli will play till the age of 40.

Sharma further reckons to represent India is a pride in itself, and the India captain would do anything to keep himself fit.

“I have few years left in my career to enjoy this sport. Playing for the country is a matter of pride and a huge honour. You can’t afford to take any game lightly. You got to be honest to the sport and that is when the sport gives you back. I try to do that,” Virat Kohli said.

However, Virat Kohli had faced a lot of injuries in 2018. Looking at the injury concerns, he might hang on boots sooner rather than later. Meanwhile, Rajkumar Sharma added he is not going anywhere, and he has around ten years of cricketing life left with him.

“I don’t think he wanted to say a few years. You be assured. You will see him playing for India for the next 10 years. He will not retire before the age of 40 as his appetite to make runs will not satiate before that. He did not want to say that. Kohli wanted to say that he has 5-7 years left to play the game. He is not going anywhere for the next 10 years. There is no injury concern to him,” he told India News.

In addition to that, Virat Kohli had missed quite a few numbers of games due to his injury. He was ruled out from the third and final match of the T20I series against South Africa earlier this year.

Furthermore, Kohli also suffered a neck injury during the Indian Premier League (IPL) and had missed the county stint with Surrey. Moreover, he also suffered from a back injury during the second Test match against England at Lords. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli made a massive comeback after been given rest in the Asia Cup 2018. He played brilliantly in the first ODI against the Windies where he again impressed the crowd scoring 140 runs off 107 balls.

The Men in Blue will play the second ODI match against the Windies on October 24 (Wednesday).
