With an eye on improving their track record in the tournament in recent years, Harry Kane-led England will open their FIFA World Cup 2018 campaign on Monday (June 18).

England will begin their Group G account against Tunisia. Unlike the previous teams, the current England side does not have too many big established names.

Not surprisingly, not much is expected from Gareth Southgate’s youthful side. So England head to the finals in Russia with very less pressure which can do wonders for the team.

In previous competitions, the pressure on the team caused the side to underperform on several occasions. As a result, they have failed to make it to a semi-final since the 1990 tournament in Italy.

However, Harry Kane & Co. are blessed to be free of such heavy expectations. And they will be keen to use it as a big opportunity.

On the other hand, their opponents Tunisia are back at a World Cup for the first time since 2006. The North Africans have never progressed through a group stage at a World Cup in four previous appearances. However, England will be better off if they manage to avoid complacency against Tunisia.

Tunisia looked impressive during the warm-up games. They fought back from 2-0 down to draw with Portugal and only lost narrowly to Spain as a result of Iago Aspas’s 84th-minute goal.

Well, only time will tell how England start their much-awaited campaign in Russia. And ahead of their opener, their skipper Harry Kane received a motivating message from none other than India cricket skipper Virat Kohli. The star batsman took to Twitter to wish Kane, writing:

Wishing you a successful World Cup campaign @HKane! ??

England will be banking heavily on Kane who enjoyed a sensational season with Tottenham Hotspur, scoring 41 goals in all competitions.

Well, this is not the first time, Kohli has written something for the England star on Twitter.

A couple of years ago, the duo had exchanged pleasantries on Twitter after the footballer had praised the cricketer on Twitter.

Meanwhile, Kohli will be soon leading his troop against England. India will tour England in July for a full-fledged series.
