Virat Kohli's Salary Is Almost Equal To Entire Pakistan Team’s Annual Salary

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) recently announced their central contract list for season 2020-21. Fast-bowler Shaheen Afridi and Test captain Azhar Ali were promoted from category B to A, joining Babar Azam in the top category. The PCB has also introduced a new ‘Emerging’ category for three upcoming players Haider Ali, Mohammad Hasnain and Haris Rauf.
Among notable omissions, pace-bowling trio of Hasan Ali, Wahab Riaz and Mohammad Amir have lost their central contracts while former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has been demoted from category A to B. Teenage pace sensation Naseem Shah earned his maiden contract and is in Category C after making his Test debut last year.
Along with Naseem, right-handed batsman Iftikhar Ahmed is the other new face in the contracts list. On the other hand, Yasir Shah has been demoted from A to B and Imam-ul-Haq has been demoted from B to C.

Here is the list of Pakistan’s centrally contracted players:

Category B: Abid Ali, Asad Shafiq, Haris Sohail, Mohammad Abbas, Mohammad Rizwan, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Shadab Khan, Shan Masood, Yasir Shah
Category C: Fakhar Zaman, Iftikhar Ahmed, Imad Wasim, Imam-ul-Haq, Naseem Shah, Usman Shinwari
Emerging Players’ Category: Haider Ali, Haris Rauf, Mohammad Hasnain.
Comparing the retainer fees:

As soon as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the contract list and the retainers fee, fans on Twitter started comparing the fees of the Indian and Pakistan players. And so we are taking a look at just how big a difference there is between the retainers fees of the two cricket boards.
Babar Azam along with Shaheen Afridi and Azhar Ali are in the highest category and will receive PKR 1.1 million (INR 5,20,000 approx.) per month, according to ESPNCricinfo. On the other hand, the players in category B will receive PKR 750,000 (INR 3,54,000 approx.) Players in category C will fetch PKR 550,000 (INR 2,60,000 approx.).

Well, when converted to INR, the entire salary of the Pakistan team while leaving out the Emerging Players’ Category, is almost equal to what Virat Kohli earns per year as the retainer fee. The PCB spends around INR 7.4 crore on the salaries of the players per year.
On the other hand, Virat Kohli earns INR 7 crore per year for being in A+ category. Along with Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah also earn the same amount. BCCI pays the players of Category A, B and C, INR 5 crore, INR 3 crore and INR 1 crore respectively.
