Virender Sehwag Hails Harmanpreet Kaur For 'Zordaar' Innings

Former India batsman Virender Sehwag lavished praise on Harmanpreet Kaur for her stunning ton against New Zealand in the ICC Women’s World T20 2018.
India began their World T20 campaign in style by beating New Zealand. The architect of the win was Harmanpreet Kaur as she tore the opposition apart with her stunning assault. She scored 103 and became the first Indian player to score a T20I hundred in women’s cricket. During her 51-ball stay in the middle, Harmanpreet sent the New Zealand bowlers on a leather hunt as she recorded boundaries at will and also with ease.
Batting first, India were off to a poor start. They were reeling at 40 for 3 when Harmanpreet Kaur joined youngster Jemimah Rodrigues in the middle. But the two soon bailed India out of trouble by adding 134 runs for the fourth wicket.
But while Rodrigues departed after scoring a fifty, Harmanpreet went on to complete a stunning century. She reached her century off just 49 balls and was eventually out for 103 in the final over. With the team in a precarious situation, Harmanpreet started cautiously. In fact, she managed to score just 5 off the first 18 balls. However, she reached her fifty off 33 balls, slamming 45 off just 20 balls.
Her overall knock contained eight sixes and 6 fours. She now has the most number of sixes for India in a T20 innings, beating her own record of five against Sri Lanka. India eventually ended up 195 for 5, their highest total in World T20.
In reply New Zealand were off to a decent start. Their openers Suzie Bates and Anna Paterson added 53 runs for the first wicket. But once Paterson departed, they kept on losing wickets at regular intervals. New Zealand were eventually restricted for 160 for 9.
Not surprisingly, Harmanpreet drew widespread praise for her historic knock. And Virender Sehwag also did not take long to praise the India skipper. The legendary batsman took to Twitter to hail Harmanpreet, writing:
“Harmanpreet Kaur , wonderful hundred. Great bat swing in a really zordaar innings”
