Virender Sehwag Hits Back At Sourav Ganguly Over 'Spoke Foolishly' Remark

With Virender Sehwag opening the Pandora’s Box a couple of months after being pipped over by Ravi Shastri in the race to become Team India coach, it looks like there will be another ugly episode between two former players. Last year, Ravi Shastri and Sourav Ganguly had publicly taken shots at each other after Anil Kumble was preferred ahead of the former to become the head coach and it seems this year there will be another public spat between two more cricketers. While the cricketing fraternity will surely hope not to see another ugly feud between two stalwarts but the early signs are not encouraging.

It all began when Sehwag said he lost the race against Shastri because he did not have any ‘setting’ in the BCCI.

“See, I didn’t have any setting,” Sehwag had told India Today. “When I was in England during the Champions Trophy, I had asked Ravi Shastri that why he hasn’t applied for the post? Shastri then told me that he will not repeat the mistake which he had already made once.”

“I never thought of coaching the Indian cricket team. I was given the offer… BCCI secretary Amitabh Choudhury and MV Sridhar came to me and requested me to think on the offer. I took my time and then applied for the position,” he had added.

However, Ganguly hit back at Sehwag by saying that his former teammate ‘spoke foolishly’.

“I’ve got nothing to say. Sehwag spoke foolishly ,” Ganguly, one of three members of the Cricket Advisory Committee that picked Ravi Shastri ahead of Sehwag and others as head coach, told PTI.

And Sehwag has now taken the exchange of words to another level by posting a cryptic message on Twitter.

“Har kisi ko safai mat do, aap insaan ho, washing powder nahin ! (No need to make yourself clear to everyone, you are a human being not a washing powder),” he tweeted.

An avid cricket lover, I just love this game more than anything. Writing about cricket keeps me closer to the game.
