Virender Sehwag is considered the most aggressive opening batsman in the history of ODI cricket. But now, it seems like Rohit Sharma is slowly and steadily taking away the most aggressive title away from Sehwag.

India's Rohit scored 118

Already, Rohit has shown his prowess as an opener by scoring three double centuries in ODI cricket and with his second century in T20I cricket, Rohit added another feather in his cap. However, the innings of 118 off 43 which he played in the second T20I was quite special.

Everything which was coming to his bat was going away for a six or a four. In his innings of 118, the Indian skipper scored 108 runs in form of boundaries. Just 10 runs came in form of running between the wickets.

The margin between the two is enough to understand that Rohit was in a different mood yesterday and if he were not been dismissed, he could have very well become the first ever player to score a double century in T20I cricket.

Sehwag, former India opener turned commentator, was left surprised with Rohit’s innings. He also praised Rohit for his innings and here is what he wrote in social media –

Surely, Sehwag was left surprised by the way Rohit was manhandling Sri Lankan bowlers. No bowler had the courage to bowl to Rohit with a fear that they might get hit for more runs.

With this innings, Rohit just did not write his name in record books but also moved way forward on being called out as one of the best openers in the history of limited overs cricket.

Why not? He has three double centuries and now two centuries in T20I as an opener as well and yesterday, he was performing the role of captain as well.

Riding on his show and an innings of 89 from KL Rahul, India posted a total of 260 on the board. Sri Lanka were bundled out for 172 and lost the game by a margin of 88 runs.
