Former India opener Virender Sehwag has opine that Virat Kohli will break most of Sachin Tendulkar‘s records except one. The way Virat Kohli is batting at the moment, many think that it is just a matter of time before the India skipper breaks Tendulkar’s records. At just 30, Kohli is already one of the most decorated batsmen in the history of the game.

Kohli has 43 ODI centuries to his name already and needs just seven centuries more to break Tendulkar’s world record. Tendulkar scored 49 centuries in 463 ODIs (452 innings). Tendulkar scored 18426 runs in his ODI career at an average of 44.83, while Kohli has an astonishing average of 60.31 in 239 ODIs (230 innings).

In Tests, Kohli is just about half-way through to Tendulkar’s centuries record. The Indian skipper has 25 centuries under his belt in 77 Tests (131 innings), while the Sachin scored 51 centuries in 200 Tests (329 innings). Unsurprisingly, Kohli has been widely tipped to break at least a few of Tendulkar’s monumental records.

Virender Sehwag also feels the same. The legendary opener feels Kohli is the best batsman of this generation at the moment. He also said that Kohli will break most of Tendulkar’s records barring one. Virender Sehwag said that Kohli would not be able to break Tendulkar’s world record of playing a staggering 200 Tests.

“At the moment, Virat (Kohli) is the best batsman. The way he is scoring centuries, the way he is scoring runs, he is the best. I am sure he will break most of Sachin Tendulkar’s records,” Virender Sehwag told Timesofindia.com.

“The one record no one can break is his (Sachin) 200 Test matches record. I don’t think anyone can break his record of playing 200 Test matches. I don’t think anybody can play more than 200 Test matches,” Sehwag said.

India are currently in West Indies and are now gearing up for the upcoming two-match Test series. Sehwag has backed the Kohli-led side to win the series.

“The West Indies team don’t have quality players in their side who can give competition to this Indian team. I am sure India will win the two-match Test series 2-0,” Virender Sehwag said.
