There is always something intrigue in knowing the superstitions. Notably, in the game of cricket, there are quite a few interesting stories of the legendary icons of the game. Much to the same, Virender Sehwag too got his superstitious things, but unfortunately, it never worked for the swashbuckling batsman.

However, Virender Sehwag accepted it with gleeas he came over it after the initial few failures. He shared an interesting story while speaking with The Quint in an interview alongside Shahid Afridi.

My mom used to ask me to play by carrying a red cloth – Virender Sehwag

The swashbuckling India opener quoted the people in India feel lucky while putting right leg when you enter somewhere. He added he used to follow that to find the things positively.

Further, the flamboyant batsman quoted he also used to play with a red cloth but was never succeeded, as he scored pretty cheap scores with the willow. He went on to say he gave the very same fabric to Yuvraj Singh in the same game, who scored 98 runs to his name.

On a lighter note, he added Yuvraj Singh never returned the cloth to him. As ever, Virender Sehwag was quite comical in his interview which left Shahid Afridi in splits as well.

”When a newly-wedded bride comes home, she steps in with the right foot. So when we enter, we enter with the right foot, thinking maybe our day will be good too. My mother also used to tell me to keep a red cloth in my pocket, or wear a black thread,” Virender Sehwag quoted.

”I did that in Sri Lanka in 2001 and got out on 10, 12 or 0. Sourav Ganguly was our captain then. He came to Yuvraj and my room and told us we had last two chances to perform. So I went to the next match to bat and got out early. So I came back and gave the red cloth to Yuvraj who then scored 98 not out. I still haven’t got the red cloth back,” he added.

Meanwhile, Shahid Afridi added he never believed in such kind of stuff. However, it has been a fun-filled interview where the entertaining duo revealed quite a few exciting things.
