Virender Sehwag thanks organizers for hosting St. Moritz Ice Cricket League

The date 8th and 9th February gave cricket a brand new avatar. It saw retired international stars play T20 cricket, not on the grass field but on ice. The beautiful country of Switzerland planned to host the exciting concept in order to promote the sport in the country.

The country of Switzerland is famous for producing Tennis star Roger Federer who recently won his 20th Grand Slam title. It is no secret that the legend of Tennis is an avid fan of cricket and can play a couple of exquisite cover drives on his own.

Switzerland is also popular for the producing international soccer stars bagging lucrative deals in club football. However, the concept is cricket is still new to the Swiss. With the intention of expanding the game of cricket and promotion of the sport, sponsors initiated the ice league.

Sultan of Multan, Virender Sehwag, took to Twitter to thank the organizers of the Ice Cricket League for conducting the event successfully. The two-day event hosted major stars from all across the globe to feature in the tournament.

Sehwag himself had a field day at the office as he smashed 62 off 31 balls consisting of 5 sixes in the first game. He followed it up with another rapid knock of 46 off 22 balls which had 9 boundaries in it.

“Wonderful time in Switzerland playing 2 Ice cricket matches. Really enjoyed being here and thanks to the organizers for all the comfort and hospitality and also to @omanair,” tweeted Viru.

The other prominent stars in the league were Shahid Afridi, Jacques Kallis, Andrew Symonds and Mahela Jayawardena. Dilshan, Hussey, Shoaib Akhtar, Vettori, Zaheer Khan and Malinga were the other the names in the competition. Virender Sehwag’s Palace Diamond lost both the matches in the competition.
