The ongoing series is not only a competition between India and New Zealand but also looks like a contest for the Man of the Series award between KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer. Both the batsmen are delivering goods consistently to make things happen for India in the ongoing five-match New Zealand vs India 2020 T20I series. Speaking of the duo, the former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman showered words of praise.
Rahul and Iyer, heroes of India’s win in the 1st T20I, played starring roles yet again on Sunday helping their team chase down the target of 133 to take a 2-0 lead in the ongoing T20I series.
Moreover, Rahul and Iyer stitched a brilliant 86-run partnership in the second T20I at Auckland–to give India their second victory in the series. Both handled the chase pretty well after losing the reliable Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli for cheap scores.

Very impressed with the versatility of KL Rahul – VVS Laxman
Keeping a closer look at the promising talents of the Men In Blue, former Indian cricketer Laxman lauded the star batsmen for putting up a show in the 2nd T20I against a hapless Kane Williamson-led side.
The veteran batter hailed Rahul for adjusting to different roles and also praised Iyer for his support.

However, he highlighted the fact that India won the game because of the performances from the Indian bowlers.
”Over 300 runs for KL Rahul in his last 5 T20 innings. Very impressed with the versatility that he has shown and adapted to different positions and roles. Great support from Shreyas Iyer. But this win was set up by the bowlers who did not let NZ batsman to getaway,” VVS Laxman said in his congratulatory tweet.

Rahul, who had scored 56 in the first T20I at the same venue, remained unbeaten on 57 with Iyer also scoring 44 runs. Both the players would be looking to repeat the similar stuff when India lock horns with the hosts on Wednesday in Hamilton.
