SunRisers Hyderabad mentor VVS Laxman was a happy man as his side beat Delhi Capitals on Tuesday to register their first victory of this year’s tournament. SunRisers Hyderabad’s reputed bowling department rose to the occasion to restrict Delhi Capitals to 147 while defending 162. In particular, the former Test cricketer was glad to witness T Natarajan play an integral role.
T Natarajan, who bowled the 18th over of the Delhi Capitals’ innings, bowled brilliantly and did not deliver any boundary balls to Marcus Stoinis and Axar Patel. With Delhi needing 47 from the starting of that over, the left-arm seamer gave away only seven runs and dismissed Stoinis in the final delivery. The Orange Army lost the first two games to Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders and will face Chennai Super Kings on Friday.
VVS Laxman hailed Natrajan’s work ethic in particular, lauding his performances in the Tamil Nadu Premier League and Ranji Trophy. The 134-Test veteran added that Natrajan did everything during the lockdown to keep himself in rhythm and is happy to see someone accompanying Buvneshwar Kumar in bowling yorkers frequently. He finished with figures of 4-0-25-1 against Delhi Capitals.
“I think it is great to see the way Natarajan bowled, he has done really well in TNPL that is why he was picked by KXIP three seasons back, he has been with us for the last few seasons now, his work ethic is fantastic, even in the Ranji Trophy he picked wickets. During the lockdown, he did everything possible to be in best possible rhythm. To have the confidence to execute yorkers, that is fantastic. Along with Bhuvi, we have Natarajan now as well who can do the job at the death,” the 45-year old said as quoted by Khaleej Times.com.
“IPL is a proper platform for the uncapped players to blossom and become experienced” : VVS Laxman
VVS Laxman is also impressed by the way Indian players have fared this season and calls IPL as a platform for the uncapped players to become experienced. Laxman pointed out that the players spending three weeks in the preparatory camp has worked in their favour and wants to see some domestic cricketers in the SRH camp to evolve too.
“There are so many Indian players who have done well so far in this edition. IPL is a proper platform for the uncapped players to blossom and become experienced. This time, I am sure every player had the opportunity to spend three weeks in preparatory phase. It is a good sign, I am also excited to see the young Indian players evolving in the Sunrisers camp,” he added.
