Waqar Younis Recalls An On-Field Incident Involving Navjot Singh Sidhu For Which The Latter Always Gets Teased

Former Pakistan speedster and current bowling coach Waqar Younis reminisced a hilarious incident involving Navjot Singh Sidhu in the Kapil Sharma Show. The Kapil Sharma Show is arguably one of the most-watched shows that has attracted a mass fan-following. Star-studded personalities in Bollywood celebrities while cricketers from India as well as abroad have made their presence felt on the show and disclosed some interesting anecdotes.

The episode in which former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram appeared managed to garner massive attention in Pakistan. The former left-arm seamer recalled many hilarious incidents on the field and off the field including Navjot Singh Sidhu becoming a victim of Waqar Younis back in 1990 for a golden duck. Since that disclosure, host Kapil Sharma hasn’t held back to troll Sidhu, addressing the “golden duck” incident.

Waqar Younis was one of the greatest Pakistan bowlers of his era along with Wasim Akram. The former national team captain was specialized in generating reverse swing with the old ball, which wasn’t as prevalent in those days. In 87 Tests and 262 ODIs, Younis snapped 373 and 416 scalps before retiring in 2003.

Recalling the Golden duck incident of 1990, Waqar Younis revealed that it always cracks him up when Sidhu gets teased for that. At the same time, the 48-year old lauded the former opening batsman’s friendship and labelled him as an exemplary human being, having done plenty of Cricket shows alongside him.

I have seen that Kapil Sharma Show, few times and I know my name has been mentioned several times regarding Sidhu paaji when I got him out in 1990. And, I got him on a very very first ball. I know he has been teased a lot because of that,” Younis said via Twitter.

“But yes, Sidhu paaji has always been a great friend and a good mentor also. He is a lovely human being and I’ve done a lot of shows with him and Cricket shows also. I know he does a lot of this Kapil Sharma Show which I’ve really enjoyed watching. Yeah… It’s good that he gets teased there which I really love! Good,” he added.
