Waqar Younis, Tom Moody Revealed as Coaches for Global T20 Canada

Global T20 Canada league revealed a star-studded line-up of coaches for the upcoming inaugural edition of the tournament set to take place later in June.

Three of the five coaches are Phil Simmons, Waqar Younis and Tom Moody. The other two coaches are Donovan Miller and Mohammad Akram.

Simmons, the former Windies coach, will monitor the Toronto Nationals. On the other hand, Waqar, the former Pakistan coach will coach Winnipeg Hawks.

Moody, fresh off guiding Sunrisers Hyderabad to a runners-up finish in the IPL, will coach Montreal Tigers. Miller has been named the coach of Vancouver Knights while Akram will be in charge of Edmonton Royals.

On the other hand, a sixth team will be representing Cricket West Indies. The team will consist of players entirely from the Caribbean, as part of an official partnership with CWI.

The organisers have already revealed the marquee players. Steven Smith, Shahid Afridi, David Miller, Sunil Narine, Chris Gayle, Dwayne Bravo, Andre Russell, Chris Lynn, Darren Sammy and Lasith Malinga are the marquee players.

Meanwhile, the league has earned approval from the International Cricket Council (ICC). The tournament will run from June 28 to July 15. The player draft for the league will take place on Sunday (June 3), with Toronto Nationals getting the first pick. Four spots on each side will be set aside for Canadians.

The tournament will have 22 games. The final will take place on July 15. Toronto’s Maple Leaf Cricket Club will host all the games.
