Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) all-rounder Washington Sundar is growing in his game with his experience in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and domestic circuit. Sundar has played an important role in the RCB bowling department. He picked up two wickets in their win against KKR on Monday.

RCB bowlers were at the top of their games as they restricted KKR to 112/9 in the stipulated 20 overs to register a big win of 82 runs. Sundar picked up the prized wicket of Eoin Morgan and Nitish Rana as he returned figures of 2/20.

I just want to keep things simple and hit the hard length: Washington Sundar

Sundar said that he wants to keep things simple and hit the hard length over and again. He has been working on the similar lines throughout the season and it has been working well for him. He also added that while bowling against KKR, he did not want to try too many things as they were playing in Sharjah.

“I just want to keep things simple and hit the hard length over and again. That’s something which has been working for me in this particular season,” Sundar said at the post-match press conference.

“I didn’t want to try too many things just because you’re playing in Sharjah and a very important win for us.”

"They know if they don't play the IPL, they won't get too far. The IPL gives them the benchmark for them to get picked for the Indian team. You can't blame them because you need to have T20 skills otherwise you are not going to play too much cricket," he added.

Bowling under the shadow of India leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, the 21-year-old has an astonishing economy rate of 4.90 this season, even ahead of Afghanistan’s star spinner Rashid Khan (5.03).

RCB have got to a good start in the IPL 2020 and are in contention to qualify for the playoffs. The Bangalore franchise have the record of reaching three finals. RCB entered the final match last time in 2016 but since then they have been at the bottom of the table. Moreover, in 2019, the franchise  finished last with just 5 wins from 14 matches.
