Former Pakistan seamer and captain Wasim Akram has opined on the favourites for the upcoming gruelling Test series between India and Australia. India and Australia will face each other down under, starting the 27th of November and continuing till January 2021. While Wasim Akram tips the hosts as favourites, he backs the contest to be a close one.

India and Australia will lock horns in three ODIs, three T20Is, and four Tests. The spotlight remains the most on the Test series as it would be exciting to see how the visitors deal with a strengthened Australian side having their two best batsmen back in their armoury. Not only it would be a battle for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy but also the number one Test ranking.

Wasim Akram named Australia’s fast-bowling department as the best in the world, consisting of Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, and James Pattinson. Akram added that Australia would start as favourites; however, it would be a tight contest.

I think Australia’s fast bowling is the best in the world. They have Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and other top-class bowlers. It will be a close contest but I would say Australia start off as favourites,” Akram said in an interview with Cricket Baaz.

At the same time, the former Pakistan skipper admitted that India has got gun pacers as well and that their confidence and self-belief is sky-high. The 54-year old underlined that Virat Kohli’s men’s body language has been significant in their success, acknowledging their fearless attitude.

Mohammed Shami, Bhumrah, Saini, and others they are good. Indian team has got a lot of confidence. Their body language has changed. As a team, they have confidence in themselves just like when we used to enter the ground in the 90s. Their body language shows they believe in themselves and the hard work they are putting in. I would say ‘Indian players thode badmash ho gaye hain'”. he added.
