With Virat Kohli showing signs of slowing down, former India batsman Wasim Jaffer has backed him to score an incredible 75-80 ODI centuries. Virat Kohli, on Sunday, scored his 42nd ODI ton and needs just 8 more to break Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 49 ODI tons. The century in the second ODI against West Indies ended Kohli’s mini-drought.

It was Kohli’s fourth century of the year and first since March. Kohli has been in good form throughout but was just not managing to score the centuries. He scored five fifties on the trot in the World Cup. During the course of his innings, Kohli also became the second highest run-scorer for India in ODIs. With age on his side, the 30-year old is looking well set to create his own legacy in ODIs.

Kohli also completed his 2,000 ODI runs against West Indies. In doing so, he broke Rohit Sharma‘s record of fastest to 2,000 runs against any team in ODIs. Rohit had crossed the 2,000-run mark against Australia in his 37th innings. Kohli, on the other hand, did it in his 34th innings. Kohli has so far scored 11,406 runs at an average of 59.91 in 238 ODI matches. He is currently in eighth spot in the list of cricketers with most runs in ODIs.

Impressed with Kohli’s form, Jaffer has tipped him to score more than 70 ODI tons. The former Test opener took to Twitter to lavish praise on Kohli, writing:

“Normal services resumes after a break of 11 innings!! i.e. another international ? for Virat Kohli ??
My prediction is he will get 75-80 ODI ?’s ??? #KingKohli “

Wasim Jaffer, meanwhile, played 31 Tests for India. In his short Test career, he scored two double centuries, five tons and 11 fifties for India. Jaffer, who averaged 34.11, scored 1,944 runs in red-ball cricket.

India defeated West Indies by 59 runs in the second ODI to take an unassailable lead in the three-match series. The Men in Blue will take on the West Indies in the third and final ODI of the three-match series on Wednesday.
