Former India opener Wasim Jaffer has picked his current best T20I XI with David Warner leading this side. Wasim Jaffer, a legend in the Indian domestic circuit, has hung his boots. He announced his retirement from all forms of cricket with immediate effect on March 7 this year.

The 42-year-old, who is also the highest run-scorer in the history of Ranji Trophy, played 31 Tests and two One-Day Internationals (ODIs) between 2000-2008. It is only a matter of wonder as to why who achieved so much in the domestic circuit couldn’t excel on the international stage with the amount of potential that he had.

To make the selection for ‘Best T20 XI’ more interesting, Ranji cricket’s all-time highest run-scorer Wasim Jaffer selected all the players from different countries. That also became the reason for the biggest surprise as Virat Kohli, who would currently make into the playing XI of any team in the world, had to be dropped.

Wasim Jaffer picked Australia’s David Warner as the captain and opener of the team. He named World number 1 T20I batsman Babar Azam as his opening partner. New Zealand’s charismatic captain Kane Williamson comes in at number three followed by former South Africa batsman AB de Villiers.

Wasim Jaffer had named MS Dhoni as the captain and wicketkeeper of his ODI XI and IPL XI but this time he decided to replace with destructive English batsman Jos Buttler. West Indian Andre Russell and Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan are the all-rounders in the playing XI.
