Rajasthan Royals youngster Riyan Parag, on Sunday, came up with a stunning save to save five valuable runs in the ongoing clash against Rajasthan Royals. With the short boundaries and flat pitch making things tough for the bowler in Sharjah, every saved run is like a gold dust for the bowling side.

And Rajasthan Royals must be delighted with the way Riyan Parag saved the shot which looked set to land outside the boundary ropes. Asked to bat first, Kings XI Punjab made a solid start as their openers – KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal – scored 60 runs in the powerplay.

And even after the end of the powerplay, the batsmen showed little signs of slowing down. In the seventh over bowled by Shreyas Gopal, Agarwal went for another big shot on the fifth delivery and connected well.

The right-handed batsman had lofted the ball towards long-on and it looked like a certain six. However, before the ball could cross the ropes, Riyan Parag came running from the left, took a stunning catch before the momentum took him outside the boundary.

But before landing his foot, he cleverly dropped the ball inside the playing area while being airborne. The batsmen, on the other hand, could only take a single as Riyan Parag saved five runs for his side.

Rahul and Agarwal, however, are showing no signs of stopping at the moment. With the bowlers getting little help from the flat pitch and the short boundaries making things tougher, both the batsmen are taking the bowlers to the cleaners. At the time of compiling this report, KXIP were 103 for no loss in the tenth over.
