Watch: Akila Dananjaya Cleans Up Rohit Sharma With Brilliant Googly

Just when it seemed Rohit Sharma would start the fireworks in the ongoing third One-Day International against Sri Lanka after a sedate start, Akila Dananjaya silenced the whole stadium by castling the stand-in skipper.

After blowing away the Islanders in the last game, Rohit began the proceedings in Visakhapatnam in a cautious manner like he usually does. In fact, at one stage he was batting on just one after facing 11 deliveries before hitting Dananjaya for a maximum. However, the shot was not the precursor of the things that were to follow as just two balls later, the Sri Lankan spinner avenged for the big shot.

Dananjaya, who had given the Indian batsmen all sorts of trouble when the Men in Blue had visited Sri Lanka a few months ago, accounted for the India opener with a googly. The right-arm spinner bowled a tossed up googly, drawing Rohit forward. However, in an attempt to play a front-foot defence, Rohit exposed a gap between bat and pad which was enough for the ball to sneak in disturbs the timbers timber.
