The decades old rivalry between India and Pakistan is no secret. And nothing describes this rivalry better than a cricket match. Emotions run high whenever these two arch rivals lock horns on a cricket field. Perhaps this is why even Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai could not help but take a sly dig at India at the opening ceremony of the World Cup 2019.
It all happened after a very 60-second challenge. In the contest, all the ten participations nations were represented by one cricket legend and one celebrity. Former India skipper Anil Kumble and Bollywood actor Farhan Akhtar represented India. On the other hand, Malala and Azhar Ali played for Pakistan.

In the ten-team competition, England finished at the top. Represented by former captain Kevin Pietersen and Chris Hughes of Love Island fame, the hosts scored 74 runs. Australia were second in the contest with Brett Lee and former tennis player Pat Cash collecting 64 runs. Apart from Pietersen, Kumble and Lee, the other stalwarts in the competition were Viv Richards and Jacques Kallis. Afghanistan, South Africa, West Indies and Sri Lanka were next in the line.

Pakistan, New Zealand, Bangladesh and India were at seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth position respectively. India were the only team who failed to cross the 20-run mark, finishing on 19. Pakistan, on the other hand, finished with 38 runs. Following the game, Malala took a sly dig at India. When asked about Pakistan’s poor performance, the Nobel laureate did not bother about her poor performance but was more than happy over finishing ahead of India.
Here is a clip of that interview involving Malala Yousafzai:
You praise Pakistan, a nation where you can't go.
You demean India like a typical brainwashed Pakistani, yet India is a nation which you can safely visit.
Stop being petty and disgusting @Malala. pic.twitter.com/MGugFTKCfV— VJ (@vinayak_jain) May 30, 2019
Meanwhile, the marquee clash between India and Pakistan will take place on June 16. India will definitely start as favourites not only because of the current form but also because of their track record against their arch-rivals in the World Cup. India and Pakistan have so far played six games against each other in the World Cup and the former have won on all the occasions.
