England star Ben Stokes looks set to land in further hot waters after a shocking video has emerged showing the allrounder punching two men in a fight outside a nightclub in Bristol. The 26-year old has been named in the squad for the Ashes but the latest video published by The Sun has completely overshadowed any thoughts of the series in Australia.

Stokes was arrested on Monday (September 25) on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm. He was in the prison  overnight before being released under investigation while inquiries continue. England opener Alex Hales, who was with Stokes during the brawl, returned to Bristol on Tuesday to help police with their inquiries.

An ECB spokesman confirmed that the board  watched the video for the first time after the news outlet published their report and made it clear that the board will respect the police investigation.

“We have seen this footage for the first time tonight – when posted by The Sun,” the spokesman said. “There is an ongoing police investigation that will look at all available evidence, and we do have to respect that process.”

Meanwhile, the video shows men trying to stop an aggressive Stokes from punching as they shouted: “Enough, Stokes.”

Meanwhile, Andrew Strauss, ECB director of cricketer, confirmed that Stokes  suffered a minor fracture of the little finger during the brawl. He also said that the board has no option but to wait for the police investigation to end.

“All we can do at this moment is deal with what we know,” Strauss had said. “We have no idea how things are going to develop from a police perspective and it would be wrong for us to second guess that in any way. We are judging our Ashes selection on that basis.”
