Bhuvneshwar Kumar gave India the perfect start in the ongoing second One-Day International against Australia at the Eden Gardens. A middle-order collapse had restricted India to a modest total of 252 and the Men in Blue were in dire need of a good start against the world champions. Well, Virat Kohli & Co. did not have to wait long as Bhuvneshwar Kumar rose to the occasion, giving the hosts the much-needed early breakthrough.
Bhuvneshwar, who had taken a five-wicket haul during the Sri Lanka series earlier this month, dismissed Australia opener Hilton Cartwright with an outstanding delivery. The right-arm pacer had perfectly set up the dismissal before inflicting the killer punch. Four of the first five balls of the third over were outswingers but with Cartwright not going for the shot, Bhuvneshwar changed his plans and reaped the reward immediately.
The India pacer went wide of the crease and angled in one while Cartwright, who had not offered shots to previous out swinging deliveries, played for the outswing. The right-handed batsman ended up playing outside the line and missed it completely, as the ball went between bat and pad to hit the top of off stump.
