Australian batsman Cameron White was hit with a vicious Billy Stanlake beamer in the JLT Cup match in Townsville on Sunday.

Standing at 6 feet 8 inches, Stanlake is the tallest cricketer to have represented Australia. Facing him on the pitch is a unsurprisingly a tough prospect for any batsman. And even the mere thought of Stanlake bowling beamers can make the best of the batsmen worried.

Well, Cameron White faced a similar situation in the JLT Cup-opener while representing Victoria against Queensland. Facing just his fifth delivery, White was hit on his shoulder by a Stanlake delivery. The veteran Australia batsman immediately fell on the ground as the players rushed towards him.

Here is a clip of that scary incident:

The hit was a nasty one as the commentators initially thought the ball had hit White on his helmet or throat.

“It just slipped out of his hand, Billy Stanlake, and Cameron White has copped it,” the commentator said. “It was certainly dangerous.”

But fortunately, not much damage was done as the doctor cleared him. However, it looked like the incident had rattled Cameron White as he huffed and puffed to 10 off 34 before being caught by Chris Lynn after top edging a pull shot off Jack Wildermuth.

On the other hand, Billy Stanlake, who conceded 20 off his first two overs, improved from there to have 29 for 1 off six overs.

Coming to the game, Victoria recovered from 66 for 4 to score a challenging 240.  Glenn Maxwell (80) and Nic Maddinson (68) steadied the ship by scoring fifties and sharing a 101-run partnership.
