Watch: Bizarre Dismissal As Marnus Labuschagne Elbows Ball To Stumps

Australia’s latest batting sensation Marnus Labuschagne has not looked back since being recalled by the Test side in this year’s Ashes. He found a place in the playing eleven as a concussion substitute for Steve Smith and duly seized his chance with four successive fifties.

The right-handed batsman has been a regular in the Australian team since then and is also the most consistent batsmen for them. In the ongoing home season, he has been in stunning form. He started the home summer with a career-best knock of 185 against Pakistan before slamming 162 in the next Test in Adelaide.

In the third Test of the summer which was against New Zealand in Perth, Marnus Labuschagne scored 143. The right-hander was looking set to score a century once again in the ongoing Test against the Black Caps in Melbourne but was clean bowled by Colin de Grandhomme for a well-made 63. He shared fifty-plus stands with David Warner and Steve Smith before departing.

A bizarre dismissal:

Apart from his consistent run-scoring feats, Marnus Labuschagne caught everyone’s attention with his batting technique. The way Labuschagne left the balls outside the off stump, it made many compare him with none other than his illustrious teammate Steve Smith who is known for his unorthodox technique. Just like Smith, Marnus Labuschagne also leaves the balls outside the off stump at the very last moment in hilarious fashion.

Well, Labuschagne will now surely think twice before copying Smith as he was dismissed in a bizarre manner against New Zealand. The Australia star once again tried to leave the ball at the last moment but ended up elbowing the ball to his stumps. He first tried to play the delivery from Colin de Grandhomme but decided to shoulder arm at the last moment.

But he was late by a fraction of a second and the ball hit his elbow before being directed towards the stumps.
