Former Australia batsman Mark Waugh left his co-commentators in stitches with his hilarious attempt to pronounce the name of Pakistan batsman Fakhar Zaman.

Mark Waugh would have duly realised that perhaps pronouncing certain names can be far difficult at times than playing cricket. Waugh was commenting on the first day’s play of the ongoing second Test between Australia and Pakistan when he failed miserably while pronouncing Fakhar Zaman’s name. The word that came out of Waugh’s mouth sounded like a swear word.

No wonder, the host and co-commentator Brett Lee couldn’t control their laughter as soon as Waugh hilariously pronounced the name.

“I was close, come on!” Waugh said as Lee and the host found it tough to control their laughter.

Here is a clip showing Mark Waugh failing miserably while pronouncing Fakhar Zaman’s name:

Talking about the game, Australia ended the day on 20 for 2 after a splendid bowling effort helped them bowl out Pakistan for 282.

Last match’s hero Usman Khawaja was unable to repeat his heroics, scoring just three before glancing an Mohammad Abbas delivery down the leg side which wicketkeeper Sarfraz Ahmed took with a brilliant diving catch. Abbas then dismissed night watchman Peter Siddle on the final delivery of the day to put Pakistan on top.

Earlier in the game, Nathan Lyon tore apart Pakistan’s batting lineup with a stunning spell in the first session of the day.

Opting to bat first, Pakistan were off to a poor start. Mohammad Hafeez, who had scored a century in the last match, was sent back by Mitchell Starc for just 4. Debutant Fakhar Zaman and Azhar Ali then steadied the ship and took the score past the 50-run mark before Lyon ran riot.

After bowling three straight maiden overs, the off-spinner ripped through Pakistan’s batting line-up, removing Ali (15), Haris Sohail (0), Asad Shafiq (0) and Babar Azam (0) in quick succession to reduce Pakistan to 57 for 5 from 57 for 1.

Fakhar Zaman, who made his debut in the game, and skipper Sarfraz Ahmed then added 147 runs to steady the ship. Both the batsmen were then sent back by Marnus Labuschagne for 94.
