Watch: Chris Morris' Hilarious Attempt To Mankad Marcus Stoinis

Ever since Ravichandran Ashwin ran out Jos Buttler by Mankad in last year’s Indian Premier League, that mode of dismissal makes it to the news more often than not. And Mankad has made it to the news once again after Chris Morris’ hilarious action while he was playing for Sydney Thunder against Melbourne Stars in the ongoing edition of the Big Bash League.

The incident took place in the third over when Chris Morris was bowling to Nick Larkin and Marcus Stoinis was standing on the non-striker’s end. Even before Chris Morris could reach the crease to deliver the ball, the ball popped out of his hand and went towards the covers. Marcus Stoinis, on the other hand, was not aware of it and had just moved a bit although he had his bat inside the crease.

Chris Morris then cheekily tried to ran out Stoinis while the latter looked at the allrounder in a baffling manner. Morris then turned back with a smile and went to his bowling mark.

Here is a clip of that incident:

Melbourne Stars win:

Talking about the game, Melbourne Stars won the match by three wickets. Batting first, Sydney Thunder finished their innings on 142 for 7 in the stipulated 20 overs. Alex Ross’ 40 was the top score for the Thunder. Glenn Maxwell did the early damage as he dismissed Alex Hales and in-form Usman Khawaja for 0 and respectively. Haris Rauf was the pick of the bowlers, picking up 3 for 24 off his four overs.

In reply, Melbourne Stars started in a disastrous manner as Nic Maddinson was out for a 6-ball duck. However, Larkins and Stoinis went on to score 65 and 58 respectively to lay the foundation for a successful chase. Stars lost some wickets in heap towards the end but managed to cross the line with two balls remaining.
