Watch: Crowd Chants Boom Boom Afridi After Seeing Lt. Colonel MS Dhoni In Baramulla

MS Dhoni is currently is Kashmir on a stint with the Territorial Army as an Honorary Lieutenant Colonel. The former India skipper, who has been facing criticism in recent times, took a two-month break from cricket to serve the army. He was recently seen enjoying a game of volleyball with his fellow soldiers. But on Tuesday, Dhoni might have realised how tough it is for the Indian soldiers to do their duties in a region where the common mass do not completely back India.

Dhoni was in Baramulla region of Kashmir when hundreds of locals came to saw him. However, their intention was pretty much different. Instead of catching a glimpse of the legendary cricketer, they were in a mood to protest. As soon as they saw Dhoni, they started slogans of Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi.

The government of India recently took a historic step by abrogating the Article 370. The constitutional provision gave a special status to Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistani prime minister and their former cricket captain Imran Khan has vowed to fight India’s decision to revoke Kashmir’s autonomy. Khan said the move was in breach of international law, adding that he feared ethnic cleansing by India. India, on the other hand, have made it completely clear that Kashmir remains their internal matter.
Unsurprisingly, the tension between the two fierce rivals is at an all time high. In fact, Khan also warned India of a war-like situation if the situation escalates in the coming days. The situation in valley is very tensed at the moment but it did not stop Dhoni from serving the army.

Dhoni, meanwhile, is likely to return to action when India host South Africa after the ongoing tour of West Indies.
