It looks like Dale Steyn has still not lost his sting. The star pacer spent the better part of last two years or so on the sidelines while being marred by multiple injuries. He could not play competitive cricket till November last year after injuring his shoulder during the tour of Australia in 2016.

He made his much-awaited return to Test cricket during the first Test at New Lands against India this year. However, the joy was short-lived as another injury saw him getting ruled out of the game and subsequently the series. He recently joined county outfit Hampshire and the way he castled Cheteshwar Pujara on Wednesday (June 20), it looks like he is not very far from getting back to his best.

During the county game between Hampshire and Yorkshire, Pujara was up against the Proteas star. Having faced 10 deliveries, Pujara was yet to get off the mark when Steyn came charging in and disturbed his timbers.  It was a full length delivery which Pujara tried to defend. However, the ball went through the small gap between bat and pad before knocking out the off and middle stump.

It should be mentioned that on June 18, Steyn had dismissed Pujara on a duck too during the semifinal of Royal London One-Day Cup.

Here is the clip showing Steyn castling Pujara:

Meanwhile, Steyn has been included in South Africa’s Test squad to tour Sri Lanka next month. Steyn is three wickets away from breaking Shaun Pollock’s record as South Africa’s leading Test wicket-taker and will have the chance to do so in the two-Test series.

He recently said he is slowly getting back to his best.

“The body’s fine, body feels good,” Steyn told Sky Sports. “I’ve got no problems. I’ll have a look [at my bowling footage] in the computer when I get back up [to the dressing room]. One thing is I’ve got overs under my belt, the rhythm seems to be coming back. I’ve got a good followthrough going on which means there’s good pace at the crease and I’m hitting the crease nice and hard. Yeah, everything seems to be ticking over nicely.”
