Watch: David Warner Gears Up For Comeback to Competitive Cricket After Ball-Tampering Scandal

After spending nearly three months away from the cricketing field in the wake of the ball-tampering scandal at Cape Town,  David Warner is back on the field to prepare for the upcoming Global T20 Canada League.

Interestingly, the tournament will mark the return of the southpaw in competitive cricket. Along with Warner, his compatriot Steven Smith will also make his comeback in the upcoming edition.

The former Australia skipper Smith along with Cameron Bancroft was also involved in the scandal which took the world cricket by storm.

The trio has not played since the scandal in the third Test against South Africa in March, this year. In the aftermath of the scandal, Cricket Australia (CA) had slapped lengthy bans on the trio. While Smith and Warner received one-year ban each, Bancroft received a nine-month suspension.

Also, Smith had to give up his captaincy in addition to being banned from playing for state team and in cash-rich Big Bash League (BBL).

However, CA had made it clear the forbidden trio would be allowed to play grade cricket. As a result, Smith and Warner are eligible for the upcoming league in Canada.

Warner will be playing for Winnipeg Hawks in the inaugural Global T20 tournament in Canada. On the other hand, Smith will feature for Toronto Nationals as a marquee player in the tournament

And Warner has started his preparation for his much-awaited return to the cricket field. The southpaw posted a video of himself on Instagram, writing:

“Great to be back at it, working on fly speed transition. Tough session but managed to keep it together.”

Meanwhile, besides David Warner and Smith, Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi, Sri Lanka fast bowler Lasith Malinga, Windies players Chris Gayle, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Darren Sammy and Dwayne Bravo will also partake in the tournament.
