Cricket is a gentlemen’s game and New Zealand’s U19 players proved it once again on Wednesday during their quarterfinal clash against West Indies U19 in the ongoing ICC U19 World Cup. In a heartwarming moment that is bound to bring smiles on the face of every cricket fan, the New Zealand players came up with a special gesture for West Indies batsman Kirk McKenzie.

Seeing Kirk McKenzie struggling to walk due to cramps, two New Zealand players carried him off the field. On the final ball of the 43rd over, Kirk McKenzie retired hurt after struggling with cramps. He was batting on 99 at that stage. He had to be stretchered off after he picked up the cramps while trying to avoid a drive from the striker at the bowler’s end.

But he decided to walk out to bat once again in the 48th over after West Indies lost their ninth wicket. However, he was bowled by Kristian Clarke on the very first ball. And he was then struggling struggling to walk as his reaction made it clear that he was in serious pain.

This is when the New Zealand players decided to come up with their heartwarming gesture. Two New Zealand players carried him in their arms and took him off the field.

Here is a clip of that heartwarming incident:

West Indies, meanwhile, suffered a late collapse to be bundled for 238. At 184 for 4 in the 37th over, they were looking set to post somewhere close to 300 runs. However, they lost their last six wickets for just 54 runs. Apart from Kirk McKenzie, Kelvon Anderson (33) and Antonio Morris (31) were the only one who crossed the 30-run mark.
