Ahead of the five-match Test series against England, India is taking on Essex in a three-day practise game at the Chelmsford in the United Kingdom (UK) to prepare for the much-awaited series.
The first of the five-match Test series commences from August 1 at Edgbaston. India have last tasted success on the English soil in 2007 when Rahul Dravid led-side won the three-match Test series 1-0. Since then, the visitor’s have struggled to win series as they lost 4-0 and 3-1 on their last two tours.
However, things have changed since then and the top-ranked Test side will be desperate to change the statistics. Virat Kohli & Co have come here on the back of nine series win from 10 Test series and will look to continue their good form.
In a bid to acclimatise to the condition, India is playing Essex in a three-day game. Meanwhile, India had the worst possible start after skipper Virat Kohli opting to bat first. Essex bowlers bowled some tight line an length as the visitor’s found it tough to tackle the swing.
The home side reduced India to 5 for 2 as Shikhar Dhawan and Cheteshwar Pujara departed cheaply.
Dhawan, who is having moderate so far failed once again to get going. The southpaw departed in the third ball of the game edging one to James Foster off Matt Coles. As a result, Dhawan got out on a duck and had a poor start to the red-ball series.
Shikhar Dhawan didn’t have the start he would have liked and will look to hit back to form in the second essay.
