Watch: Jasprit Bumrah's Stunning Catch Sends Back Steve Smith Cheaply

Given Steve Smith‘s unbelievable track record against India, the hosts needed something special to see the Australia captain’s back early in the ongoing first One-Day International in Chennai and the moment of brilliance was provided by Jasprit Bumrah not as a bowler but  as a fielder.

On the penultimate delivery of the fifth over bowled by Hardik Pandya, Smith had survived a close call when India’s review went his way. However, the Aussie star could not capitalise on it as he returned back to the pavilion on the very next delivery. Bumrah managed to deceive Smith with a slower delivery and as a result the right-handed batsman was a little early into his shot. Subsequently, Smith ended up top-edging the ball high in the air.

However, it seemed the 28-year old would get away with it as the ball was not only high and was swirling in the air but Bumrah, standing at short fine, also had to run behind. However, the Indian pacer, who had earlier bowled Hilton Cartwright with a beauty, kept his eyes on the ball while running back and completed a stunning catch.
