Jos Buttler pulled off a stunner to send back Shikhar Dhawan as England clawed their way back in the game.

Looks like the Trent Bridge show was just a rare occasion of Indian openers doing well in overseas conditions. In both the innings, KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan had added 60 runs to set the platform for a good total. However, the duo failed to make the most of their new-found confidence in the ongoing fourth Test.

The duo had managed to see off the tricky spell of four overs on day one and had the chance to finally score a big score. However, both of them departed in quick succession. Rahul was the first to be dismissed, falling to Stuart Broad for 19. And 13 runs later, Dhawan joined Rahul and his teammates in the pavilion.

Dhawan had managed to play 52 deliveries but played a poor shot to undo all his hard work. Broad pitched his delivery up, making Dhawan edge it to Jos Buttler who showed excellent reflex to pull off a stunning catch.  As a result of the wicket, England managed to reduce India to 50 for 2.

Here is a clip of that catch:

Meanwhile, on day one India had bowled out England for just 246. In perfect swinging conditions, Bumrah, Shami, Ishant Sharma and Hardik Pandya returned to haunt England’s batsmen.

Bumrah gave India flying start by dismissing Keaton Jennings for a four-ball duck. Ishant Sharma then accounted for Root to put India well on top. Jonny Bairstow, playing as a specialist batsman at No. 4, nicked one from Bumrah behind to Rishabh Pant. And when Virat Kohli took a brilliant low catch, diving to his left at third slip to dismiss Alastair Cook for 17 off Hardik Pandya, England slipped to a miserable 36 for 4.

Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler got together again and tried to steady the ship. But both fell to Shami soon after lunch. At 86 for 6, England were looking set for a humiliating total. However, Sam Curran added 81 with Moeen Ali and 63 with Stuart Broad to guide them to 246.

Bumrah starred with the ball, picking up 3 while Shami and Ishant picked up two apiece.
