The controversial incident in the Leicestershire-Lancashire happened on Sunday when left-arm bowler Dieter Klein hurled a dangerous throw at batsman Danny Lamb [27], who had played the full-length delivery straight to Klien.

Klien picked the ball and threw the batsman hitting him as he hopped off towards square leg. Lancashire, as a result, was awarded five penalty runs for the incident. As far as the match is concerned, Leicestershire has taken a firm grip on the proceedings. Riding on a brilliant 172 from Ben Slater and an equally brilliant 94 from skipper Colin Ackermann, Leicestershire went on to declare their innings at 8-409 in response to Lancashire’s 322 in the first innings.

Earlier Lancashire batted first and on the back of a 5th 130-run-stand between Dane Vilas [90 off 125 balls] and Steven Croft [63] recovered from an abysmal position of 4-97 to eventually post 322. Dieter Klein [3-81] was the pick of the bowlers for his team. At the time of writing, Lancashire had already lost opener Keaton Jennings for 8 and they still 37 runs in arrears.
