One of the beauties of the game cricket is that it keeps throwing surprises on a regular basis. The batsmen, bowlers and fielders try out new things to meet the unending demands of this game. On some occasions, those things happen even when the players don’t intend to do them.

And something similar was witnessed from Nick Larkin when he was playing for Melbourne Stars against Sydney Thunder on Saturday (December 12). It was the third match of the recently-started tenth edition of the Big Bash League (BBL). Nick Larkin was involved in a bizarre incident.

The incident took place in the last over of the Melbourne Stars innings bowled by Daniel Sams. The left-arm pacer bowled a fuller delivery on the leg stump that Nick Larkin tried to hoick away towards the leg-side. Unfortunately, he failed to make any contact with the ball as the ball hit him on his waist.

And in a bizarre turn of events, the ball got entangled in the Stars’ batsman’s  jersey. The batsman first looked for the ball but could not find it and yet ran for a single. The wicketkeeper and the bowler were unaware of the ball too. It was only after Nick Larkin inched closer to the non-striker’s end and the ball slipped out of his jersey , everyone knew what happened.

The umpire, however, did not award the single to the batting team and declared the delivery a ‘dead ball’. The right-handed batsman then went on to lose his wicket off the subsequent ball.

“Hide the ball and run! Bit cheeky here from Nick Larkin,” BBL’s official Twitter handle captioned the video.
