Mitchell Santner is having a dream outing in the ongoing first Test against England. Everything that the  left-arm spinner is touching in the game is turning into gold. He first made an impact with the bat, helping the Black Caps take command of the game. The left-handed batsman smashed his first Test century and shared a record stand of 261 runs with BJ Watling.

Soon after his batting heroics, he rattled England with his bowling. On the fourth evening, Mitchell Santner took three wickets for just six runs to put New Zealand on the front-foot. And after making an impression with bat and ball, he left England utterly shocked by pulling off an absolute blinder in the field to dismiss Ollie Pope.

Stunning catch from Mitchell Santner:

New Zealand pacer Neil Wagner came around the wicket to Pope and bowled a poor delivery. It was a low full-toss and Pope could have hit it anywhere. However, the England batsman, who reached for the ball, played a shocking shot towards short cover. At first, it looked like the ball would evade Mitchell Santner and run towards the boundary.

But Pope as well as others were wrong. Mitchell Santner flew through the air, made  a full length dive towards his wrong side and pulled off a blinder.

England, meanwhile, are in big trouble in the ongoing game. Starting the day on 55 for 3, they ended the second session at 161/8 in their second innings, still needing 101 runs just to make the Black Caps bat again. They could add just 14 runs to the overnight score before losing their skipper Joe Root. From thereon, they kept losing wickets at regular intervals and are now staring at an innings defeat.
