Mohammad Shahzad put up a batting masterclass to fire Rajputs to a thumping win over Sindhis in T10 League on Tuesday.
Not many batsmen in the world manage to outscore Brendon McCullum when the latter bats on the other end. But the way Mohammad Shahzad was batting on Wednesday, very few would have managed to get close to him let alone outscoring him. The hard-hitting batsman ripped apart the Sindhi bowling attack in the opening encounter of the T10 League 2018.
Rajputs skipper Brendon McCullum decided to field first after winning the toss. Sindhis lost wickets at regular intervals but managed to score 94 for 6, thanks to their skipper Shane Watson. The former Australia allrounder slammed 42 of just 20 to guide his team to a challenging total. Barring him, none of the other players could cross the double-digit mark. For the bowling side, former India pacer Munaf Patel was the most successful bowler with 3 wickets for 20 runs.
A target close to 100 runs in a 10-over game is competitive any day. However, Wednesday was an exception by a big mile. Mohammad Shahzad, who had scored a century against India in the Asia Cup not very long ago, fired on all cylinders right from the word go. The right-hander reached his half-century in a mere 12 deliveries as the Sindhis looked hapless.
Shahzad scored 74 runs off just 16 balls as Rajputs chased down 95 in just 4 overs. His knock contained six boundaries and as many as eight sixes. On the other end, McCullum stood like a mere spectator, scoring 21 off 8 balls.
