The day started on a very bright note for MS Dhoni fans as the official Instagram account of the Indian cricket team posted a video showing the former India skipper beating his younger teammate Hardik Pandya in a 100 meter race. And if that was not enough for everyone to be convinced of the 36-year old’s extreme fitness then the stunning catch he took in the ongoing second One-Day International against Sri Lanka would certainly do.
Dhoni could not do much with the bat as only few balls were left when he came out to bat. However, the World Cup-winning skipper made sure to give his fans plenty to cheer about with a stunning effort in the field. The moment was witnessed in the 31st over of Sri Lanka’s innings when their skipper Thisara Perera failed to make a good connection while trying a sweep shot off the bowling of Yuzvendra Chahal.
Perera sat down on his knees to hit the ball but missed it and the ball after touching his pad and making contact with the gloves ballooned towards the short leg region. The ball was looking primed to land in the no-man’s land but Dhoni had other plans as he ran from his position and made a full length dive to complete the catch.
Here is the brilliant grab from MS Dhoni:
