At a time when Team India is brimming with world-class fast-bowlers, Navdeep Saini has given the team-management a good headache. The exciting fast-bowler from Delhi has shown he can do well at the highest stage of the game. Navdeep Saini impressed with his pace once again in the recently-concluded T20I series against Sri Lanka and walked away with his first Man of the Series award.

The highly-rated pacer, who made his T20I debut last year, bowled consistently over 140 kmph and made life difficult for Sri Lanka’s batsmen. He picked up 2 for just 18 off his four overs in the second T20I and backed it up with figures of 3 for 28 in the third game on Saturday, helping India clinch the three-match series 2-0 after the first game was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

“When I used to play with the red ball earlier, I used to find bowling with the white ball difficult. But now after practicing, I have been finding it easier and have been getting better. My seniors have been helping me as well as to how to bowl in different situations. Bowling fast comes naturally to me. I look after my gym, my diet and playing for India is a big deal. I have been playing with the red ball only for the last four-five years and before that I was playing with the tennis ball only,” said Navdeep Saini after the game.

The deadly yorker:

In the second match of the series, Navdeep Saini bowled a thunderbolt at the speed of 147.5 kmph that had left Danushka Gunathilaka clueless. And Saini came up with another such brilliant yorker in the third game with Kusal Perera being the victim this time around.

Chasing an improbable 202, Sri Lanka were already 26 for 3 when Kusal Perera was beaten for pace. Saini fired in a well-directed yorker at Perera right in the blockhole on the middle stump and the batsman could not do much as the ball went on to disturb the timbers.

Here is a clip of that wicket:
