Watch: Piyush Chawla Takes Just 4 Deliveries To Make Mark In CSK Jersey, Dismisses Rohit Sharma

Piyush Chawla has started his journey with Chennai Super Kings in a fine fashion by taking a wicket in his very first over. In the previous players’ auction, CSK had secured the services of the veteran spinner by spending a sum of Rs 6.75 crores and the spinner has not taken long to prove his worth.

MS Dhoni introduced him in the attack in only the fifth over of the ongoing game against Mumbai Indians after Quinton de Kock and Rohit Sharma got off to a flying start. By the time Piyush Chawla came to bowl, Mumbai Indians had raced away to 45 in just four overs.

Well, Piyush Chawla did not take long to repay the faith shown in him by his captain as he sent back Rohit on his fourth delivery to hand CSK the much-needed breakthrough. It was a soft dismissal as Rohit ended up chipping the ball into the hands of mid-off fielder.

It was a half-hearted loft from the Mumbai Indians skipper and he paid the price for the same. The ball bounced off the toe-end of the bat and Sam Curran made no mistake in taking an easy catch. Rohit departed after scoring 12 from 10 balls.

The match was the first competitive one for Rohit Sharma since February. He was sidelined during the tour of New Zealand after suffering a calf injury. As a result, the right-handed batsman had missed the ODI and Test series against the Kiwis. The Mumbai Indians skipper will be looking to regain his form as soon as possible as the side eye a record-extending fifth IPL title.
